Summer Still Doing It's Job
Schools may be back in session, but summer is still in her glory. After a good bit a rain and the heat back on, gardens around town are exploding with goodness!

In the Eye of the Beholder
So, one staff member thought this piece looked like diamond pizza slices. I see mountains? Probably not exactly what the artist saw, but we love that you can find small works of art like this embedded in a walls down town and around town. An ode to the love art.

Lighting up the SKy
We liked the contrast in this photo of one the lightening storms we had last week. There was so much lightening we actually caught a flash on an iphone camera. The settings are not very fast, so that should tell you how much lightening there was! The photo is also in color- it's just the night sky and the flash behind the trees.

Castle Like
Without all the traffic and hustle visible around this historical house on Grand. Ave., here in the studio, on of our contributors thinks it looks like it should have a moat and some knights around front.

Art as a Wall
There's no passing up the cobalt details in this lovely wall in the in the Parkview Hospital area on Grand. It's an enclosure for a parking area, but the wall is adorned with some wonderful, colorful art pieces, really adding interest to the historical neighborhood.

We were surprised how clear this photo of of the approaching storm from last Wednesday came out. It was dark and cloudy, with a spot of sun just before the bottom fell out!

The Band Plays On
If you happen to be out and about in the City Park or Mineral Palace Park areas most early summer mornings, you might be lucky enough to catch the Sun City Marching Band practicing. How fun does that make your walk? A band, coming to you, without the hassle of a parade. It definitely livens up the neighborhoods.

A River Runs Through It
This photo captures the huge rainstorm we had last week, that caused several areas of town to flood.
Taken from the 3rd floor of the Rawlings Library, you can see the street running underneath the building looked more like the Arkansas River than the book return lane.

Minding His Own Business
We were just wondering why we hadn't seen any deer lately when we spotted this big guy having breakfast in someone's front yard right outside City Park.

Boxwoods
We haven't had much luck with our boxwoods this year, but this North-side has had no problem with these quaint little bushes.

Striking Colors
Perhaps not the most flattering shot ever, but something in the way the colors and textures mix in an other wise passed up view, makes for a very interesting scene.

Pioneer Family
This bronzed family stands guard at the Pioneer Cemetery. Didn't realize we had one either till we looked up a geo-cache there. Though we've passed by it for years! Have a look- it's towards the North end of West Street, just below a view of the Channel 5 TV station.
