Have You Ever ...

Blown bubbles in the snow? You can watch them freeze right before your eyes and turn into these plastic looking spheres. Interesting yet magical!

Nothing Says Christmas Like Poinsettias

While rushing through the crowds at the grocery stores, don't get frustrated, enjoy some of the wonderful vignettes of the holiday. We couldn't stop and pass this vision up when were running through the North side King Soopers!

Window Peeking

Have you start your Christmas shopping yet? Shopping? Not quite. Window peeking? Always. We bet you know what window we were peeking into here...

A bit of Frotsing

Dreary winter views always look better with a touch of snow- as does this view over looking Union Ave.

Didn't Quite Freeze - Yet...

Were you in a rush trying to save the last of your gardens and outdoor plants from the freeze that has embraced us since around Thanksgiving? We rescued a few. One of them being this beautiful bushel of lavender- which we made into Lavender Oatmeal soap.

50 Cent Pumpkins at Lowe's

What do you do when you go a little nuts and buy $8 worth of the 50 cent pumpkins Lowe's has on clearance? Have a little fun! It's been pumpkin mania round the studio, but tell me what youngster wouldn't mind coming to the dinner table and finding his/her very own pumpkin bowl filled with their favorite stew recipe?

December! We are glad you are here!

Dear December, We are glad you are here! You came in a bit biting with your single digit temperatures, but you still beautify the city in your own subtle ways...

Anti-Graffiti

We are loving the Parks and Rec's answer to graffiti. They have commissioned and artist to to paint over the various electrical boxes around the parks in hopes of deterring rampant spray painters. So far so good!

Pueblo Grand Opera House

Photo of a photo hanging in the Hose Co. No. 3 on Broadway
With today's picture, we really agree with the saying "a picture is worth 1,000 words".
We find this photo so amazing and we wonder what stories does it have to tell?
Kinda makes us want to do one of those creative writing lessons where you are a given a photo and asked to write a story about it...
The Opera House was on  Main St., and pretty grandiose for the time. While we have a few beauties of the inside, this photo always takes us aback. It's incredible to look at, and sort of makes your heart ache that such a beautiful piece of work and a wondrous piece of history fell prey to a fire. It was March 1, 1922, when the fire started on the upper floors. Firefighters say the building was engulfed and gutted within an hour. It was a freezing cold day, and after the fire was out, all that was left was this ice castle-like image of a once glorious venue. It was never re-built.
What story do you see?

Something in the AIr

The ghosts and goblins are showing themselves as All Hallow's Eve approaches.
This ghost resides in the Junction-
and we are amazed that you can't even see his strings from the street.

Good Monday Morning!

We get a kick out of this little guy from a South side neighborhood. We don't know if he is saying "Hello, or warning us away, but either way, if he hears you coming he jumps on his fence and keeps watch till you have passed.

Vintage Needle

Patiently waiting our turn in the Water Works line off 5th Ave., we couldn't help but realize how you really do not see signs like this one at Pueblo Bank and Trust anymore. We pass it all the time and don't think much, but  at the time,  signs like these suggested upscale service and success. And of course if you venture in, the bank's marble floors still present you with that idea today. It's a definite old school bank. And of course almost anything up against Pueblo's brilliant blue skies makes us take a second look.

265 Days of Sun + A Bit of Presistance =

Pueblo Grown Lemons!
With our city's near year-round sunshine, plus it's summer heat to add a bit of sweetness, we knew with a lot of love and care we could produce a lemon as pretty as those we were in awe of in Sorrento!   So, when life literally hands you lemons (with no snow when everyone else is getting it), we Puebloans can make lemonade!

Can't say we have come across one of these before..

A Belt Buckle Collection that is. On display at the Pueblo West Library. A nice gentleman just wanted to share. Hmm.

The French Address Plate

When your new postman can't find your house, you know your address numbers painted on the curb are in bad need of a re-do. So, when the Bronco template guy was a no show, we figured we could do our own fancier one. Inspired by the address plates French residents are given by their town officials, we painstakingly hand painted our own in a bright colbalt blue. We even laquered it a few times to give it the sheen the French tiles have. So far, we are loving the curb appeal it adds!

Ball of Fire

Um, we are not quite sure what this is. We just liked the colors and shape against the cloudy sky- it had something of a "Thor" look to it, it was thought by some of our team members. We pass it quite often. Anyone recall where they have seen it?

Sun Doughnut

Practicing  stop motion with our new os7 upgrade, I don't know that we were very successful, but adding a blur filter sure softened things up for us so we can capture this doughnut shaped sculpture without stopping traffic in front of the Municipal Justice Center on Main St.

Autumn Crimson

Thank you guest photographer for sending in this gorgeous picture!
This hibiscus decided to give us one last show of the season and boy did it ever. These crimson petals were out doing the fall leaves around it in this Mesa Junction neighborhood.

Hello September!

The farms in the county and numerous private gardens offer a peek at soon to be ready pumpkins.
Glorious summer is still here, but with your arrival we are promised warm days and cool nights, colorful aspens, and the smell of falling leaves and cinnamon in the air...

Summer Still Doing It's Job

Schools may be back in session, but summer is still in her glory. After a good bit a rain and the heat back on, gardens around town are exploding with goodness!

In the Eye of the Beholder

So, one staff member thought this piece looked like diamond pizza slices. I see mountains? Probably not exactly what the artist saw, but we love that you can find small works of art like this embedded in a walls down town and around town. An ode to the love art.

This little guy was just as curious about us during a morning walk along the Arkansas.

Lighting up the SKy

We liked the contrast in this photo of one the lightening storms we had last week. There was so much lightening we actually caught a flash on an iphone camera. The settings are not very fast, so that should tell you how much lightening there was! The photo is also in color- it's just the night sky and the flash behind the trees.

Castle Like

Without all the traffic and hustle visible around this historical house on Grand. Ave., here in the studio, on of our contributors thinks it looks like it should have a moat and some knights around front.

Art as a Wall

There's no passing up the cobalt details in this lovely wall in the in the Parkview Hospital area on Grand. It's an enclosure for a parking area, but the wall is adorned with some wonderful, colorful art pieces, really adding interest to the historical neighborhood.

Approaching Storm

We were surprised how clear this photo of of the approaching storm from last Wednesday came out. It was dark and cloudy, with a spot of sun just before the bottom fell out!

The Band Plays On

If you happen to be out and about in the City Park or Mineral Palace Park areas most early summer mornings, you might be lucky enough to catch the Sun City Marching Band practicing. How fun does that make your walk? A band, coming to you, without the hassle of a parade. It definitely livens up the neighborhoods.

A River Runs Through It

This photo captures the huge rainstorm we had last week, that caused several areas of town to flood.
Taken from the 3rd floor of the Rawlings Library, you can see the street running underneath the building looked more like the Arkansas River than the book return lane.

We haven't had much luck with our boxwoods this year, but this North-side has had no problem with these quaint little bushes.

Striking Colors

Perhaps not the most flattering shot ever, but something in the way the colors and textures mix in an other wise passed up view, makes for a very interesting scene.

Urn in the Sky

As we have shown you before, f you take notice, you will we have some pretty interesting light posts around town. This Grecian-esk like post stands in the lot of Park West Imaging.
