I Would Walk 500 Miles to be with You

We pass so many neat things along our walks - like these ribbons weaved through a restaurant's fence. Many of our photos are taken from the appreciation of our city during these aimless wanderings. Walks are also the best way to get to know your community.  You never know what you are going to see, or where you are going to see it.
Have you made any New Year's resolutions yet? Join us in our resolve to walk 500 extra miles! That means extra walks, not the day to day walking around the house or office.

The walking not only resolves you to be more active,  but it also involves resolving to being more in the moment, noticing the world around you and also spending quality time with those you care about. I can't tell you how many dreams were discussed or problems were worked out or treasures were found or jokes that were told while walking with my family.

Have you ever heard the song by The Proclaimers,  "I Would Walk 500 Miles"? ...(to be with you). Well don't think of it as walking 500 miles TO someone. Think of it as walking 500 miles  WITH someone. I would walk 500 miles to spend some time with my husband and kids . I would walk it to spend some time with my siblings, parents, in-laws or friends.

Sounds hard? You can break it down to a daily does of 1.369 miles a day  x  365  =  500.
How long does it take to walk 1.369 miles? Maybe 15, 20 minutes at most.  So that's 20 minutes of being active, 20 minutes of holding hands with someone you care about and 20 minutes of exploring your community. That sounds like a big win all around!
