The Italian Vineyard Table

Handmade with love, while listening to rain drops falling on a glass roof, stories about super hero gadgets and kittens meowing at the door.

A style reminiscent of vintage wine barrels seen while traveling throughout Italy. For those long candle lit dinners with loved ones, good wine, and great conversations that you never want to end.

Purple Craze

Puebloans love their roses, true. But we are seeing clematis and honeysuckle vines in the most beautiful settings. This is a young one on a south side home.

Hot in the Shade

Going about our business Friday, we were lucky enough to come upon the
street rods parade in town for the show over the weekend.

Olaf II

If you check out this week's forecast, Olaf II may not be the last snowman of the season!
(He kinda looks more like a bank robber huh?)

A New Daffodil

These sunny blooms found their way to our doorstep and graced us with their bright orange centers, something we hadn't noticed very often on a daffodil.

Green iron work fitting for the season. Do you recognize where you've seen this?

Being Watched

Finishing up a recent walk, it appears I was the one being watched, when I looked up from my "Run Keeper" app to find I was surrounded by these guys.

A Reminder of Things to Come

Photo by Alice, with touches of snow and blooms from her Mesa Junction backyard.
While we do love the snow, by this time each year, there is something that makes us eager about flowers and color and gardens and sun. Soon. Very soon.

A House on Lake

Artist Adolph B. captures the vintage charm of this Lake Ave. home perfectly.
Perhaps you recognize it, as it is on a fairly busy street- but we loved this cheerful painting of a house on Lake Ave. -it's one of our favorite Pueblo memories and the artist did it an amazing justice.

A Bit of Zing

With it's structured lines, left a tad off kilter to wake your eye, we see the door to The McClelland School on Abriendo Ave.

Hints of Color Added.

These delightful desert plants get overlooked in all of the winter's browns, but these dried blooms, seen in a North side field get a pop of color from our photo editing software.

Our Lucky Day

Meet Lucky. She is available for adoption at the PAWS shelter off Pueblo Blvd and 11th. We recently had the opportunity to walk this sweet pup who is waiting for a good home. We swear, it will be love at first site.

Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You are...

Seems like we haven't seen the full sun in quite a few days- but we'll settle for this cheery one painted outside the State Fair Grounds, off Prairie Ave.

Winter's Cover

It's interesting to see all the shapes the snow makes as it falls into place. Do your patio chairs make their own snow sculpture? Do your ordinary sheds look like cute chateaus?

Warm Your Soul

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls, made with love, keep freezing temps at bay.

When we are concocting recipes here in the studio, we rarely create an exact recipe, but rather GUIDELINES, and then we just sort of wing it. Usually it results in a great success. To make ours, we mixed about 1 C. milk, 1 t. yeast and 1/2 c. melted butter. Then we added 2 pinches of salt, 1/2 palm-ful of sugar and 2 3/4  - 3 C. flour. When it formed a a nice ball in our  mixer, we let it rise for about 30 min. Then we rolled it out into about a 10 x 16 rectangle, brushed it with some melted butter, sprinkled it with as much sugar and cinnamon as we thought looked good, rolled it up, sealed the seam, sliced it to rounds, brushed on more melted butter and baked them in a 350 degree oven for about 28 min. Can we say butter any more to make you understand how good these are?

The icing was just a mix of about 2 T.  softened butter and about 4 T. softened cream cheese, mixed using a fork, with a splash of vanilla, and as much powdered sugar as we thought looked right- at least 1/2 c. Whisked until smooth and spread on the warm rolls. Sublime on a cold morning with our fake fire roaring on the ipad!

Blaiser Spots a 3 ft. Icicle

And how could he not, while doing some outside chores? Humongous icicles tend to be show stoppers around here. We even refrained from breaking it off to use as a pretend sword, so we can watch to see if it get's bigger.

Under 3 Bucks!

Loaf N Jug at Ivywood and Pueblo Blvd.
Gas prices have been fluctuating high to less high all month, but we hadn't seen it this low in
quite some time. And no line! So of course we filled up and got a bit frosty in the process.

Mother Nature's Masterpiece

Haven't taken a frozen trek around Lake Pueblo yet? Bundle up! You're are missing the beauty!
I know for a fact that this won't be the last time we use that title for a post. Sometimes a photo is so beautiful, I don't know what to say about it, except that I am in continual awe of mother nature, and so appreciative of the beautiful state we live in. Yes, these frozen whites,  icy blues and sun kissed browns are winter in Pueblo.

Several schools, city wide,  had Bronco jersey day and pep rallies on Friday. Bronco fever runs young and old.

Let Them Eat Cake

Spotted at the South side Walmart Bakery while on an egg and milk run.
Unless it's dark chocolate peanut M & M's, my sweet tooth is pretty much under control- but there is just something fun about Bronco cupcakes that convinces you are these are way tastier than usual.

Bronco Fever Begins

OK. It's actually ALWAYS been around here. Puebloans really love their Broncos, and show it year round - whether they have made it to the Super Bowl or not.  It's fun seeing how fans show their spirit, so this week we dedicate our pictures of the day to our Broncos and their fans...

Colorful, Beautiful, Colorado

Elevation is slightly above 5100 FT from this bluff.
For those who say all of Colorado's beauty and color is up North, we say look again. We captured this view from a bench atop the Staircase Trail on Lake Pueblo's South shore. Even with the chilly wind fighting the warm sun, we didn't want to leave the calm. To the right is Pike's Peak majestic crown that we will share in another photo - today, we just couldn't get over Pueblo's own beautiful blues.

Thursday, January 16, 2014

We almost chose this photo the other day when we were showing you the cupola on Memorial Hall at night. Thinking this is a great abstract shot we might like to frame. It's one of those "you can't really tell what it is, but if you are from Pueblo, you know you've seen it somewhere"shots.

Shadow Fence

Such bright and sunny days make for a great stroll through this Aberdeen Neighborhood.
We were actually admiring the shadow of the iron fence and how it was cast decoratively on the wall, but we had a visitor while snapping the shot, and it wasn't till just now I see his snout is part of the shadow.

Waiting for Gorganzola

Right. I know what you are thinking. Nonetheless, we spied this scrumptious little guy at the North-side King Soopers. Yep. it's a rarity in town to find a fresh fig and this one was waiting just for us to create a beautiful Fig and Gorgonzola Tart. Come on, think out side the box.

Roadside Rescue Meets Lowe's Display

It all began from a trip to Lowe's and a brave co-hort of mine who enjoys road side rescues as much as I do.
If you have been to the South side Lowe's in recent months, perhaps your eye caught the 2013 Pantone color of the year display as it did mine. Before they rang in 2014 with Vivid Orchid, the color display was a heart pounding Emerald Green. For months I'd pass the display thinking I had to find something to paint this luscious color. A room? A hallway? No, too much color (if there is such a thing). Then this cutie arrived at my doorstep and I immediately saw green. I knew this cafe chair would open the door to my emerald green obsession. And so it has. If it was sitting still in my house, I painted it green. I will post a few other transformed emerald items below to maybe inspire you - to remind you that inspiration is everywhere around you-if you are open to it.

This shot shows the truest color and best light of the paint

Lamp, trays, etc. Told you it was an obsession.
